The MCCEI Pathway Awards provide a platform to honor outstanding contributions and achievements within construction, architecture, engineering, and beyond. Nominating deserving candidates inspires others, fosters innovation, amplifies visibility, validates impact, and promotes diversity and inclusion specifically within Maryland’s built environment industry.
Nominating candidates for the MCCEI Pathway Awards in Maryland’s built environment industry is a powerful way to acknowledge excellence, inspire others, drive innovation, amplify visibility within the local community, validate impactful work, and promote diversity and inclusion specific to the state. Together, let’s celebrate and honor the exceptional individuals and organizations shaping the future of Maryland’s built environment industry.
1. Inspiring Excellence: Nominations celebrate the hard work and dedication of individuals and organizations, inspiring others in Maryland’s built environment industry to strive for success.
2. Fostering Innovation: Awards encourage professionals in Maryland to push boundaries, drive innovation, and continuously improve the built environment industry in the state.
3. Amplifying Visibility: Nominations provide a platform to showcase expertise and achievements specifically within Maryland’s built environment industry, leading to increased visibility and networking opportunities within the local professional community.
4. Validating Impact: Awards validate the transformative impact of individuals and organizations within Maryland’s built environment industry, boosting morale and encouraging further innovation and positive change.

Built Environment Hero Award recipients will be chosen based on how well they meet the following criteria:
• Makes significant contributions to future of the workforce of the built environment through their programs, outreach, etc.
• Actively involved in engagement, career exploration, and/or creating pipelines for the future workforce.
• Challenges the status quo and encourages students, parents, educators, and the public to rethink what their perception of careers in the built environment.
• Encourages nontraditional and/or marginalized members of the community to consider careers in the built environment.
• Breaks through barriers, models social change and is cross-culturally aware and inclusive.
• Is a positive reflection of what the built environment has to offer.
• Must be located in the State of Maryland or serving Maryland residents.
Champion of Workforce Development Award recipients will be chosen based on how well they meet the following criteria:
• Makes significant contributions to future of the workforce of the built environment through their programs, outreach, etc.
• Actively involved in engagement, career exploration, and/or creating pipelines for the future workforce.
• Challenges the status quo and encourages students, parents, educators, and the public to rethink what their perception of careers in the built environment.
• Encourages nontraditional and/or marginalized members of the community to consider careers in the built environment.
• Breaks through barriers, models social change and is cross-culturally aware and inclusive.
• Is a positive reflection of what the built environment has to offer.
• Must be located in the State of Maryland or serving Maryland residents.
Government Partner of the Year Award recipients will be chosen based on how well they meet the following criteria:
• Makes significant contributions to future of the workforce of the built environment through their programs, outreach, etc.
• Provides service or education to the community regarding careers in the AEC industry.
• Challenges the status quo and encourages students, parents, educators, and the general public to rethink what their perception of careers in the built environment.
• Encourages nontraditional and/or marginalized members of the community to consider careers in the built environment.
• Breaks through barriers, models social change and is cross-culturally aware and inclusive.
• Is a positive reflection of what the built environment has to offer.
• Must be located in the State of Maryland, or serving Maryland residents.
MCCEI Educator of the Year Award recipients will be chosen based on how well they meet the following criteria:
• Makes significant contributions to future of the workforce of the built environment through their classes, extracurricular activities, mentoring, or other related programs.
• Provides service or education to the community regarding careers in the AEC industry.
• Challenges the status quo and encourages students, parents, educators, and the general public to rethink what their perception of careers in the built environment.
• Encourages nontraditional and/or marginalized members of the community to consider careers in the built environment.
• Breaks through barriers, models social change and is cross-culturally aware and inclusive.
• Is a positive reflection of what the built environment has to offer.
•Must be located in the State of Maryland or serving Maryland residents.
Community Partner of the Year Award recipients will be chosen based on how well they meet the following criteria:
• Makes significant contributions to future of the workforce of the built environment through their programs, outreach, etc.
• Provides service or education to the community regarding careers in the AEC industry.
• Challenges the status quo and encourages students, parents, educators, and the general public to rethink what their perception of careers in the built environment.
• Encourages nontraditional and/or marginalized members of the community to consider careers in the built environment. Breaks through barriers, models social change and is cross-culturally aware and inclusive.

• Must be located in the State of Maryland or serving Maryland residents.
Future Builder of the Year Award recipients will be chosen based on how well they meet the following criteria:
• Acts as a positive influence on their peers through their classes, extracurricular activities, mentoring, or other related programs.
• Shows promise and passion for the industry.
• Challenges the status quo and encourages other students, parents, educators, and the general public to rethink what their perception of careers in the built environment.
• Breaks through barriers and models social change.
• Is a positive reflection of what the built environment has to offer.
• Must be studying/training in Maryland.
• A student/trainee in the following levels of education: high school, higher education, apprenticeships, or other training programs.
Intern of the Year Award recipients will be chosen based on how well they meet the following criteria:
• Acts as a positive influence on their peers through their classes, extracurricular activities, mentoring, or other related programs.
• Shows promise and passion for the industry.
• Shown initiative and brought new ideas to their work
• Breaks through barriers and models social change.
• Is a positive reflection of what the built environment has to offer.
• Must be studying/training in Maryland.
• A student/trainee in the following levels of education: high school, higher education, apprenticeships, or other training programs.
Mentor of the Year Award recipients will be chosen based on how well they meet the following criteria:
• Makes significant contributions to future of the workforce of the built environment through their classes, extracurricular activities, mentoring, or other related programs.
• Provides service or education to the community regarding careers in the AEC industry.
• Challenges the status quo and encourages students, parents, educators, and the general public to rethink what their perception of careers in the built environment.
• Encourages nontraditional and/or marginalized members of the community to consider careers in the built environment.
• Breaks through barriers, models social change and is cross-culturally aware and inclusive.
