ACE Industry Fair

ACE Industry Fair

On Thursday, January 16th, ACE Mentor Program of Baltimore welcomed local architecture, construction, and engineering companies to the Baltimore Zoo’s Mansion House for the first annual ACE Industry Fair. The purpose of this event was to engage high school and college students and inform them on workforce opportunities in the built environment industry.

High school students from Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and Howard County came to the event, and for many of them, this was their first exposure to the career possibilities within the industry. College students came from across Maryland for the opportunity to speak to these potential employers about internships and entry-level jobs. One student stated “I liked being able to talk to people about their jobs to get a better idea of what my experience would be like. I also liked the wide range of companies that attended. In addition to students, parents and community partners attended to further their understanding.

The built environment industry was well represented with 26 organizations in attendance. These organizations included contractors, architecture firms, engineering firms, industry associations, training providers, and local colleges. One organization reported, “as an industry representative, I was so impressed with the enthusiasm of the participants of both kids and companies. Can’t wait for the 2021 event!
