BLOG: Announcing the Pathway Awards Finalists
The Maryland Center for Construction & Education (MCCEI) is pleased to announce the finalists for the 2021 Pathway Awards. After receiving nearly 40 nominations across six different categories, the MCCEI Judging Committee has narrowed it down to the below finalists. All the nominees are deserving of the award, so we would like to recognize every one of them for their contributions to the built environment workforce.

Built Environment Hero
The purpose of the Built Environment Hero Award is to recognize a person in the built environment industry who embodies the values of MCCEI and who has championed workforce development initiatives in the built environment. The finalists for the Built Environment Hero Award are:
- Anthony Consoli & Kathleen Sherrill of AIA Baltimore
Champion of Workforce Development
The purpose of the Champion of Workforce Development Award is to recognize a built environment industry organization in the State of Maryland for the work they have done that aligns with the mission of MCCEI. The honoree selected should serve as a role model to other organizations for service and be striving to further the pipeline for students/individuals entering the built environment industry. The finalists for the Champion of Workforce Development Award are:
Future Builder of the Year:
The purpose of the Future Builder of the Year Award is to recognize a student, apprentice, or trainee who exemplifies the best of the built environment. The finalists for the Future Builder of the Year Award are:
- Hailey Brennan of University of Maryland College Park
- Everette Jackson of Morgan State University
- Kelvin Dagadu of Owings Mills High School
Community Partner of the Year:
The purpose of the Community Partner of the Year Award is to recognize a nonprofit, industry association, or community partner organization in the State of Maryland for an initiative, program, or other support they have implemented that aligns with the mission of MCCEI. The honoree selected should serve as a role model to other organizations for service and be striving to make the built world a better place. The finalists for the Community Partner of the Year Award are:
Government Partner of the Year:
The purpose of the Government Partner of the Year Award is to recognize a person in the public sector who embodies the values of MCCEI and who has championed workforce development initiatives in the built environment in the State of Maryland. The finalists for the Government Partner of the Year Award are:
Educator of the Year:
The purpose of the Educator of the Year Award is to recognize a teacher, guidance counselor, professor, administrator, or instructor who goes above & beyond to inspire the future built environment workforce in the State of Maryland. The finalists for the Educator of the Year Award are:
- James Palomaki of Prince George’s County Public Schools
- Peter Glaudemans of Baltimore County Public Schools
