Job Description

ROLE OVERVIEW:
The Carpenter is a full-time field-based role responsible for performing general carpentry tasks while
learning Bayview’s detailing methods.
This role requires a strong understanding of modern custom residential construction means & methods.
Successful employees have the craftsmanship skills to perform critical carpentry tasks. This role reports
to the Director of Construction and is supervised daily by the onsite Construction Manager or Lead
Carpenter.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Support Bayview’s mission and values
 Report to job sites as relayed by Bayview labor schedule
 Accurately track time using Exaktime mobile application
 Follow direction of supervisor and other senior field staff
 Maintain safe work practices and follow the guidance of safety consultants (OSHA 10 hour training)
 Install and disassemble temporary structures such as scaffolding, trash chutes, and material racks
 Load and unload materials and tools
 Perform site cleanup both interior and exterior
 Ready to learn from the on the job training when necessary, continue testing of Bayview Details
Manual. Start to understand the Bayview Production Manual
 Install walls, floors, ceilings and roofs for wood framed construction
o Positioning and holding timbers, lumber, or paneling in place for fastening or cutting
o Cutting of timbers, lumber or paneling to specified dimensions
 Fitting and installing windows, doors, and door frames.
 Installation of various interior and exterior trim components
 Installation of cabinetry and detailed millwork components
 Smoothing or sanding surfaces to remove ridges, tool marks, glue or caulking
 Perform all punch-out tasks as directed
 Installation of door hardware, window hardware, bath accessories, and cabinet hardware
 Assist with organizing tools and resources that will be needed in the next 2 weeks
 Start to read and interpret the construction document and assist with material take offs and layouts

 Ability to select and cull materials for use in the construction
 Assist in overseeing the jobsite in the absence of a Construction Manager or Lead Carpenter
QUALIFICATIONS:
 Minimum 3 years of experience working in high-end custom residential
 Valid driver’s license
 Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks
 Ability to work in all weather conditions
 Must be punctual and reliable
 Carpentry background is required, with knowledge of:
o Rough framing, exterior envelopes, and finish carpentry
o High performance construction materials & methods is a plus
 Basic carpentry hand tools and tool belt
o Tape measure, chalk line, utility knife, chisels, screwdrivers, speed square, hammer, nail
puller, nail set
o Skilled in working with spirit levels, plumb bobs and laser levels
