Jeffrey Brown Contracting is in immediate need of a Commercial Construction Estimator for all project types including: medical, higher education, retail, and office building renovations. Bid responsibilities include lump sum, Time & Material, Not to Exceed, Pre-Construction estimates, budgets, and design/bid estimates.

Duties & Responsibilities

Analyze all project documents to determine the overall estimated cost of a project.   Gather, calculate and compile data to produce construction cost estimates for competitive bid proposals in a timely manner. The estimator is also required to perform a thorough and detailed turnover of awarded projects to the project management team.

• Notify the participation in a bid to the Client, if required
• Analyze and interpret drawings, specifications, proposals and other documentation with a clear understanding of project details and costs
• Attend pre-bid meetings and visit the job site as necessary to fully understand all logistics
• Solicit and collect pricing from qualified subcontractors
• Search for specified manufacturers by division
• Submit Requests for Information to the client related to the bids under preparation
• Manage multiple project bids concurrently with ability to multitask
• Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors
• Maintain files of working documents

Experience

• Estimating experience must include conceptual and hard bid
• Knowledge of industry standard construction means and methods
• Perform site visits and document existing conditions
• Establish preliminary construction schedule and duration
• Coordinate bid process and attend pre-bid meetings
• Analyze proposals/bids for scope of work and secure pricing
• Work in collaboration with a devoted and expansive network of subcontractors and material suppliers, to guarantee the best value pricing, timely estimates and craftsmanship available on every project.
• Maintain a professional appearance, positive attitude, and exceptional work ethic.
• 5-10 years successful experience as a commercial construction project estimator
• Experience with projects ranging from $1 million to 10 million
• Understands building systems, materials, design, construction and related management strategies
• Experience using Sage 300 Construction/Timberline software is a plus

• Must have ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to establish priorities
• Must be able to work calmly within deadlines and under pressure
• Must be a self-starter who can perform independently and as a team member
• Strong customer service skills
• Must possess strong analytical skills, as attention to detail is critical
• Analyze problems; make sound decisions in a timely manner based on objectives, risk implications & costs
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
