Loyola University Maryland has an exciting opening for an HVAC professional. This position will perform full performance level duties installing, maintaining and repairing a variety of residential and commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning equipment.

The HVAC mechanic will install, service, and repair commercial and residential heat pump/air conditioning systems and other HVAC equipment such as cooling towers, boilers, air handlers, frequency drives, VAVs, pneumatic controls, exhaust fans, and air compressors. Repairs or replaces defective parts in units and equipment and their controls, including thermostats, automatic switches, fan controls, damper motors, louvers, relays, filters, controls, belts, compressors and heat exchangers.

High School Diploma
3-5+ years of experience in residential or commercial HVAC service.
Must have a valid driver’s license.

Comprehensive knowledge of the principles of heating air conditioning.

Skill in the installation, repair and maintenance of commercial or industrial HVAC equipment and systems; in the use and maintenance of tools and equipment of the trade; in brazing, soldering; in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, drawings, specifications, and contract documents.

Ability to read and explain manufacturer recommendations regarding scheduled and preventive maintenance, servicing and operation; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Ability to climb extension ladders, step ladders and work in man lifts to access confined spaces or roof tops.

Flexibility to work weekends, evenings and holidays as required. Ability to participate in the on-call rotation.

Assists with snow plowing and snow/ice removal campus wide as required and directed.

Must be able to successfully complete driver’s clearance process.

Ability to support the mission and values of a Catholic Jesuit education, as well as University goals for institutional diversity.

Work involves the regular, and at times sustained, performance of heavier physical tasks such as walking over rough or uneven surfaces, bending, stooping, working in confined space, and lifting or carrying moderately heavy (20-50 pounds) items and occasionally very heavy (100 pounds or over) items. The work environment involves exposure to various elements such as chemicals, dust, fumes, cold, heat, noise, vibrations, or dampness, where work exposes the employee to potentially non-disabling injuries. Duties require that work be performed in adverse weather conditions. Work may require exposure to dangerous equipment and machinery. Work usually requires use of protective clothing or gear such as earplugs, hard hats, mask, gloves, insulated clothing, boots, coats, etc.

Vocational and technical training highly preferred.
Commercial HVAC experience.
