BALTIMORE CITY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT WINS PRESTIGIOUS SCHOLARSHIP
IN NATIONAL COMPETITION
BALTIMORE, MD – May 7, 2020 Donyae McKoy, a senior at Augusta Fells Savage Institute of Visual Arts, is one of 48 students nationwide to receive an award in the second year of a $400,000 scholarship program organized by the ACE Mentor Program of America.
The CMiC—Allen Berg Memorial Scholarships are worth between $5,000 and $40,000. They are named in honor of the late founder of the construction management software company CMiC and are intended to assist talented and deserving students planning to study architecture, engineering or construction in college.
ACE (Architecture, Construction, and Engineering) is a free afterschool program created by the integrated construction industry to attract students into pursuing industry-related careers. Donyae McKoy has participated for 3 years in the program run by ACE’s Baltimore affiliate.
Donyae plans to enter the industry through a trades program to become an electrician. Donyae’s continuous commitment to not only his academics but the ACE Mentor Program and his part-time job prove his work ethic and pursuit of knowledge as it relates to the construction industry.
The scholarship competition was highly competitive. From among 10,000 students nationwide, each of ACE’s over 70 affiliates could nominate two students. Nominees went through a two-stage review process assessing their merit and financial need.
Donyae Mckoy and the other 22 scholarship winners were notified this week via Zoom.

Founded in 2006, the ACE Mentor Program of Baltimore is one of over 70 affiliates in the nationwide ACE (Architecture, Construction, and Engineering) program. It annually engages 10,000 high school students in a free afterschool program lasting 15 sessions.
